Bodywork & Healing

With Rebecca Blondell - Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and every Third Saturday

Rebecca is a Kundalini Yoga Teacher and certified Massage Therapist, specializing in Deep Tissue Massage, Shiatsu and CranioSacral Therapy. She has a special focus on enabling the body and mind to heal by inviting balance and stillness into our lives. Rebecca brings a trauma-informed approach to her work and has helped people transform their lives in her 10 years of practice.

In 2017, Rebecca founded Mocushi, a wellness practice dedicated to supporting a prosperous body and mind. In her private practice, Rebecca creates a welcoming environment and sees patients with a range of concerns, young and old, and she works with each person to address their unique needs. In addition, she teaches workshops and offers sessions for individuals, couples and small groups.

Rebecca is a student of life. She continues to study with some of the world’s most respected teachers. The growth she experienced through focused learning was the catalyst for her to become a teacher in her own right.

Rebecca grew up in a small village in Switzerland where she frequently played in the fields with her dogs, potbellied pig and chickens. Her upbringing instilled in her a deep yearning to connect to, and learn from, nature. She loves to spend time in the mountains and forests, continues to immerse herself in intense hiking adventures, and finds joy in playing music and singing. In her free time she likes to deepen her understanding of conscious communication, psychology, and frequently ponders the meaning of life.

One of her favorite quotes characterizes her personal philosophy: “All that you touch You Change. All that you Change Changes you.” ~ Octavia E. Butler

Lymphatic Drainage Massage

With Jordana Lerios on Tuesdays

Jordana Lerios has been a licensed esthetician for over 18 years, but currently her focus and passion lies in bodywork. During her own personal journey to improve the quality of her life and health, Jordana has been drawn to the world of wellness and has immersed herself in learning about the remarkable ways our minds and bodies can benefit and heal through touch.

She has completed over 600 hours of instruction at Diamond Light School of Massage & Healing Arts here in Fairfax, CA and McKinnon Body Therapy Center in Oakland, CA with an emphasis on trauma informed bodywork. She is licensed and certified by the CAMTC and enrolled in ACOLS continuing education courses for healthcare professionals.

Jordana specializes in a powerful and gentle modality known as manual lymphatic drainage, which helps clear the body of inflammation and promote healing.

“I’m passionate about holistic health and wellness and treat each person I come across with a listening ear, respect, nurturing touch and compassion. The best part of being a massage therapist is realizing how incredible the human body is, and how the learning journey never ends!”

What does a lymphatic drainage massage do?

First, it’s important to understand how the lymphatic system works. It’s your body’s built-in detoxifier, working hard to get rid of ‘waste’, such as bacteria and excess fluid. Sometimes the system needs a little extra help to effectively cleanse the body of unwanted toxins. The goal of a lymphatic drainage massage is to give the body a ‘reboot’, so it can work more efficiently.

The massage consists of precise, gentle movements starting from head to toe(s) that sweep stagnant ‘waste’ fluid towards the lymph nodes, which then makes it easier for your body to eliminate.

What are the benefits of lymphatic drainage massage?

Fluid retention can happen to us all. Excess fluid can result in overall puffiness and bloating that your lymphatic system may need help to clear. A lymphatic drainage massage helps to ease that fluid away, pushing it towards the lymph nodes where it can be filtered and eliminated. This is one of many reasons you may leave your treatment feeling ‘lighter’ and more energized.

Lymphatic drainage also helps tremendously with post-injury or post operative swelling. When you have an injury you will often find that the area doesn’t circulate fluids as well, which tends to cause extra swelling, pain and a delay in healing. Swelling may be a sign that your lymphatic system isn’t working quite as it should, so a lymphatic drainage massage could be needed to help drain some of the swelling away and in turn ease pain and inflammation.

Last but not least, a lymphatic drainage massage is truly nurturing and relaxing. The sweeping gestures and the increase of healthy lymph flow works wonders at easing tension throughout your body. It assists in lowering cortisol, improves digestion, circulation and sleep, and boosts immune function. An effectively functioning lymphatic system is essential for overall health.

Immediately following the session you’ll most likely experience a “lighter” sensation,  both physically and energetically and your body will continue to reap the benefits for the next 48 hours as your lymphatic system functions more efficiently.
